The Situation
International Executive HR Director at SC Johnson, a family-owned company with about 13,000 employees in 70+ countries. Long-haul twice a month: Buenos Aires, Rio, the US, Malaysia, China and Chicago. In one year he went from 80 to 85 kg, his BMI reached 28.7, and his running performance had dropped. As he put it, “moving 85kg is much more difficult than moving 75kg!”
The Problem
Training was on and off: two or three times a week, then nothing for weeks. The rest of the day was desk and meetings, with business dinners and wine most of the week. On top of that, time zones: Chicago 7 hours behind home, Malaysia and China 6 to 7 ahead. One June trip alone was a 13-hour swing. His goal was clear: “lose weight (at least 12 to 14kg) and get my BMI back below 25.”
The Result
A system built for his travel calendar, not for perfect weeks. Damien trained three times a week for five months straight, including hotel gyms in Buenos Aires and Rio. By week 8 he was losing weight so fast that we had to slow him down to protect his muscle. In about 15 weeks he went from 85 to 75 kg and got his BMI back under 25. His DXA scan, done in Chicago straight after Malaysia, China and a 15-hour flight, showed 20.3% body fat, which the clinic called low range for his age. He went down one to two clothing sizes and renewed in July 2025.
“Proud I had to buy new clothes! One or 2 sizes down.”
